Hyacinth Purple

Pretty, unusual  and rare.  Purple Hyacinth beans make beautiful pink flowers and form clusters of short shiny purple pods. He leaves are a dark purple green which adds to the overall spectacular display of this perennial. The pods, when picked very young can be cooked like green beans.

A very small percentage of people are allergic to hyacinth beans so do not over indulge the first time you try them.

Plants get very big and needs a high sturdy trellis, initially they require lots of care and watering but as soon as they take off the deep roots that goes up to two meters into the ground require little water. Plants are perennial and even if they die back in winter they will shoot up again during summer. In frost free areas they will just continue looking pretty and producing right through the year.
