Blue Lake Bean

The Blue Lake Bush Bean was developed from the Blue Lake Pole Bean in 1961 as a canning bean because of its consistently long, very straight 15cm long beans.  This quickly changed as these deep green snap beans are beautifully tender and crisp and were found to be brilliant steamed or fresh in salads.

The plants of the Blue Lake Bush Bean are prone to producing its large harvest within a few short weeks, leaving the possibility open for a second bonus crop.
